Yahoo Hack Older than Thought
You may have missed the latest news surrounding Yahoo's massive hack that compromised the data of half a billion user accounts. They released it on Election Day, after all, which was sure to take a little heat off of the former internet giant.
It turns out, according to a regulatory filing the company submitted, that Yahoo had been aware of a "state-sponsored actor" hacking their system for two years. When the massive hack was first revealed, Yahoo's said that the hack had been uncovered recently when they and Verizon, who was looking into buying Yahoo, had been looking into things.
It's also been revealed that Yahoo has been sued 23 times in relation to the data breach. They're not counting that as a loss, however, as they don't believe anything will come of it. Several state and federal agencies have been looking into the hack as well though.
